It's weird. ;-)

I had trouble thinking of a book that'd changed my life. Really, I just picked that one 'cause I'm getting kind of fanatical about the house and it happened after I read it. I'm not sure if it's a direct cause/effect thing, but the timing's suspicious.

That Alice Walker book is the only one that's made me break down and cry, though other books give me moments of teary 'I'm touched' feelings. And it (Possessing the Secret of Joy) was very political and dealt with female genital mutilation quite a bit, which was heartbreaking. I've read equally disturbing things and been cognitively but not emotionally affected, so I'm not sure why that particular work got to me on such a deep level.
