1. One book that changed your life?

The most current one would be ADD-Friendly Ways to Organize Your Life by Judith Kolberg, Kathleen Nadeau. Though I think that each book I read probably has affected me subtly if not overtly.

2. One book you have read more than once? Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. Hey, it's a classic. :-)

3. One book you would want on a desert island? I don't know. I'm really torn between something spiritual/something encouraging/something entertaining/something practical. I'm sure I'd read whatever I had endlessly. Maybe materials to write my own works would be best.

4. One book that made you laugh? Anything by John Irving usually has me dying laughing one minute and all verklempt the next. :-) I really need to read Son of the Circus again--the dildo scene had me laughing so hard I was crying.


5. One book that made you cry? Possessing the Secret of Joy by Alice Walker. I pretty much sobbed my way through the entire book.

6. One book you wish had been written? The one that makes humans stop destroying ourselves and the planet?

8. One book you are currently reading? Bhagavad Gita and Compassion In Action (Ram Dass and Mirabai Bush). Okay, so that's two books.

9. One book you have been meaning to read? I've been meaning to finish Moonlight and Vines by DeLint, but I keep procrastinating, because once it's done I'm out of new DeLint stories for the time being. :-)

I'll do this one later on - when I've chosen a book to read. I've been putting off choosing a new book all week, because I have an afghan to finish in one week and I never have enough time to get into a book before I have to put it down, which is so, so frustrating.

I know exactly what you mean. I've been reading mostly spiritual books or short stories for that reason--no novels--because I can read just a little bit and then allow it to digest for a while without getting (too) frustrated.

I don't know about the afghan thing, though i keep thinking that if I learned to sew we could save lots of money on clothes. :-) In theory, anyway.

Heh, I know how to sew and you don't really save that much, in my experience. By the time you buy the fabric and notions and pattern you're almost approaching what you'd pay for the finished garment at somewhere like Target anyway, and then it's a question of how much time you actually have to make the garment and how much that time is worth to you. Thrift stores are way cheaper. :)

I like to crochet wedding gifts, because I can spend thirty bucks on yarn and get a gift that would be worth a lot more than that in a store. I'm not that handy with a sewing machine, though. In all honesty, buying cheap clothes or good ones second-hand is cheaper and less aggravating unless you really love to sew and have a good stash of fabrics, fastenings, and notions.
