Thanks to everyone who participated in the guess-the-song meme. That was fun. :-)

Things have been a bit difficult here. I had a car accident of sorts, last Thursday, though not one involving other vehicles. I was driving in the preschool parking lot, and drove through what I thought was a puddle. It was a puddle, but the puddle was actually covering a washout...I hit the side of the asphalt hard enough to bend the front frame of the car, and felt my head kind of snap forward and my chest slam hard against the seatbelt. The airbag didn't inflate, fortunately, and Ellie did fine in her booster seat, although she was pretty shaken up.

So, now I have what I think is whiplash...my neck is hurting pretty bad, and I have recurring headaches, although the headache is better now than it was last Friday and Saturday. I'm a little worried about it. Dave and I thought that we had collision on that car, but it turns out that we don't, so we can't get any money from insurance, even through we're pretty sure it would cost more to fix the car than the car is worth.

We're going to be shopping for another car, which we can't really afford, and that has me pretty stressed.

I'm also having some questions about my local friendships and how close they really are, which is troubling. And I'm not sure how long I want to continue working at the preschool - it's been great for us in some respects, but it's not going to help me toward my goal of financial independence. I've been thinking about picking up transcription work, the sort I could do from home, though I'm not quite sure how to get started with it. Also, I really want to start volunteering at Daniel's religious school, which would mean giving up the nursery work at the UU church.

We're still struggling with Daniel issues, too.

All that said...things are pretty good. [livejournal.com profile] beetiger, [livejournal.com profile] projectmothra, and [livejournal.com profile] bard_bloom are going to be visiting us soon, and I'm really looking forward to that (though a bit worried about getting the house ready for them.) I talked with [livejournal.com profile] gleefulfreak and [livejournal.com profile] monkeyman for a good long while on gmail yesterday, and I'm reminded of what wonderful friends I have. You're not all local, but I'm still blessed.

This weekend is Purim, and also a friend from Melbourne is driving over and we're talking about doing something crafty, though I'm not sure what yet.

Dave's cardiologist appointment was yesterday. He has lots of tests coming up. So far, he's being treated for high blood pressure. I'm glad he's being proactive about it.

So that's about all that's going on so far.

I wish I could put my 'healing hands' on your neck and give you some energy, I'll have to send it "through the wire"... Hope you heal quickly!

Yikes - that's some helluva pothole... glad you are all okay. Sorry about the car...that's a bummer. But glad you are okay.

*hugs* I'm glad you're okay. Looking very much forward to seeing you. Please don't stress about getting the place "ready" for us. We're not picky.

I'm glad your injuries weren't more serious. Hope you feel all the way better soon.

I tried to get into transcription once. I found someone who had her own business, and asked her for advice on how to do that myself. She was very helpful. She gave me a loaner machine and small bits of work to try out my skills. Maybe you can find someone in your area like that.

Ow, yes, that sucks, I did the same thing with my truck last year.

I hope the visit goes well. Unfortunately it looks like I'm going to be in Houston the next two weeks.
