Baby, I can drive my car!
Jun. 21st, 2004 11:58 amFirst, an update on the suspended license thing. After berating myself incessantly over the whole thing, it turns out that it was basically a bureaucratic mistake. Yes, there was a short lapse in my insurance...but the DMV in all of its wisdom suspended my license after I had the new insurance.
So, after going to the courthouse Friday, I got my license back. I didn't have to pay to have the suspension lifted, and I got a couple of letters from them saying the suspension should never have happened in the first place, one of which I need to take to the tag agency. I'm supposed to get a new free tag out of the deal.
But I still have to appear in court, and hope that the judge dismisses the charges, something that isn't guaranteed. And I'm still being charged with a criminal offense over this. Ugh.
But, I do have my license back, so I can drive! Yay! That alone is something to be happy about.
Although, every social interaction I've had so far today has been fraught with misunderstanding or so short as to be practically nonexistent, or both. Perhaps the former leads to the latter. At any rate, I'm convinced it's my fault. Of course, I thought the license thing was all my fault too.
Why can't things just be fucking great all the time?
Oh well, at least I can drive, and don't have to take the bus today.
A+
