I did it!

I made it past the 50,000 word point. I still have a few loose ends to wrap up on the story itself (not to mention numerous rewrites, heh) but the first draft is almost done (with one-two more scenes and an epilogue left to write), and I met my goal as far as word count. Yay!!!!!!!

foxmagic told me, "You have *got* to meet ladymerri." But it wasn't until she and I were chatting online after I'd had a couple of beers that I found out just how much we had in common. :-D

Ladymerri and I have similar lj names as well as a similar outlook on life. We both struggle at times with a longing to soar combined with a need to rest firmly upon the earth. We both have responsibilities that we live up to, proscribed roles, and we're both equally aware of the fact that we're more--MUCH MORE--than those roles that we play.

Like me, Ladymerri's a huge flirt. And I'm sure, like me, this sometimes gets her into trouble. ;-)

We're both creative. In oh-so-many ways. We both sing and write and read and dream.

How are we different? Well, Ladymerri designs and creates beautiful works of art masquerading as clothing, and I don't, can't, though I am an appreciative admirer. Ladymerri has more integrity than I do, I think, living her life a little more openly and honestly. Ladymerri has poise and composure, a certain grace that I lack and sometimes envy.

Ladymerri is a new friend, but she's a great friend, and someone I look forward to getting to know better in the future. :-)
