Jun. 21st, 2006 09:43 amWe spent a wonderful afternoon at the pool yesterday. There was some chasing of Ellie, but overall it worked okay. Having my mommy friend M and her daughter there helped--she could watch Daniel during the Ellie-chasing moments, or times when they wanted to be in separate pools.
I'm a tad sunburnt, though, and definitely tired today.
We're going to spend most of the day at my dad and stepmom's house today, celebrating a belated Father's Day. It's sad, how little my dad and I have in common these days in terms of interests, how little we have to talk about. But, I guess it's happy how well we can get along in spite of that. I still see a lot of him in me, even so.
[Edit: I feel really bad about saying this, now, post-visit. I guess I should say that it's not his fault--my dad has hobbies, like most people, whereas I just play on the computer and chase kids around. ;-) I write, but that's more survival mechanism than pasttime, I think. Anyway, my dad mostly likes traditional southern male sorts of things - fishing, boating, camping, home improvement (does he like that? I dunno... He *does* it...), watching sports. They're not things that I mind, and I'd do them under the right circumstances, but I don't know enough about them to be able to converse about them well.]
Shower, then dressing, then leaving. We're off to a bit of a late start today; hopefully it's not a trend. We really need to leave their house by 3pm or 3:30 to beat rush hour home. Then it's dinner and off to Daniel's new martial arts self defense class. I have to pick up cash beforehand to pay for the outfit. It's a neighborhood recreation center type thing, so it's only $5 per lesson. A great deal, a great way for us to try this out and see if it's a good thing for him.
That's all I have for now, I think. See you on the flip side.
