Happy birthday to
bard_bloom!
Aug. 12th, 2009 09:57 pmI'm enjoying these enough to keep doing them. :-)
bard_bloom was introduced to me by
shaterri, before
shaterri and I were really good friends ourselves. Bard and I were both parents, both pagan, both denizens of a certain MUCK, and it's not hard to see why
shaterri might have thought we'd have a lot in common.
I was a little intimidated by Bard when we first met, though. It had its on place on the MUCK, and its own fans/friends, and I was just kind of trying to find a place to hang out online when I needed a bit of escape. At the time, I was shy and unused to roleplaying and not sure I would ever fit in anyplace, online or off.
I came back to Floki's Circle, though, in part because I didn't have anywhere else to go. "You came back!" Floki said. After that, Bard and I started talking, ICly and OOCly, and we never really stopped. It's been about a four-year conversation. The first time I met Bard was in July of 2005, and I think we bear-hugged the moment we saw each other.
We've seen each other through various crises and joyous moments. Bard's listened to me cry over frustration with myself and over a time when Dave was hospitalized for what doctors then thought was a stroke...and made me belly laugh by doing silly voices or clever wordplay. It's given me beautiful pottery and made me delicious meals, played D&D with Daniel and lifted Ellie up to see animals at the zoo and farm.
Bard's smart, wickedly funny, creative, and very loyal and loving. I could not ask for a better friend.
Happy, happy birthday, dear firecat. I hope this conversation continues for at least another ten years, and then some.
