If my child would just do his homework instead of expounding upon all the reasons why he shouldn't have to do his homework, then the homework would be done.

Somewhere, my stepmom is laughing. Karma is a bitch. ;-)

I spent the weekend in Illinois. How often does that happen? :-D

[livejournal.com profile] jenny_evergreen and her husband [livejournal.com profile] tom_vroom got a free r/t plane ticket and decided to use it to bring one of their friends to them. It was a fun visit. The weather was lovely (oh seventies, how I long for you), both of their kids were adorable, and we had lots and lots of good conversation. I met Jenny's mom and grandma, too.

The only down side was that being around their kids reminded me so much of Daniel and Ellie at those ages that I found myself missing my family. But I think it was good for me overall, because when I think of that time period in my life, I think, omg it was incredibly difficult. And it was, but there was a lot of adorableness mixed in.

It also made me realize that highly-extroverted + ADHD = much more difficult than just highly extroverted without ADHD. [livejournal.com profile] beautyofgrey likely already knows this, but still.

While I was gone, Dave showed the kids the movie Oh, God, with John Denver and George Burns. It is sparking some interesting conversations around here, for sure.

Daniel: In a sense, God is connected with everything.

Me: That is what I believe, too.

Daniel: Though I don't think God is in this old guitar. Especially not in the condition it's in now.

Me: Well, God might be in the happiness you felt when you first got it, or when you played it.

But now he's singing improvisationally in a style eerily reminiscent of Ethel Merman (sample lyric: "I'm randomly shouting...it's just what I do!...It's just what I do!") and belching and yelling out spelling words "Creek! Creek! Creekcreekcreekcreekcreek!" and the reflective moment has definitely passed.
