My cat is limping.

I didn't really believe it at first, thought maybe it was just a trick of the light or my admittedly overreactive imagination. But no, she's limping, and hurting too, snuggling up into my lap and asking for comfort in a way that she normally doesn't.

Even though she's very affectionate, she's not really a lap cat. Though, upon reflection, that could just be because of how frequently the lap in question is taken up with non-furry, noisy, scary small-human occupants.

But I'm worried about her. There's something either shoved up under her nail (which is what I tend to think), like a small beige button, or perhaps that's a piece of claw breaking out of skin where it's not supposed to be. Yikes! She really wouldn't let me do a thorough investigation, reowring every time I barely touched it or got near it.

Poor baby. :-(

I have a vet appt for today at 3pm. I hope everything will be okay. Of all the creatures who live in this house, I sometimes (okay, frequently, lol) think she's the one who loves me most of all, this in spite of the fact that she frequently gets less attention than the others, just because she's quieter.

A+

Good luck with the kitty, I hope it isn't anything serious.

Thanks. It was a nail that had grown way up into the skin, so they had to make a pretty big cut to get the nail out of there. I never knew you were supposed to cut cats' nails on a regular basis, thought they would scratch and stuff to wear them down. :-(

Soo...i'm feeling like a pretty neglectful human friend all in all. I'm supposed to soak her foot 2x daily, give her oral antibiotics, watch her stools as she had some rectal bleeding when they took her temp...and come back in a week. we'll see how it goes.

that was probably a lot more than you wanted to know, but thanks for asking.

Ah, Yes, I have to trim my kitties toenails often becuase they scratch me if I don't. You can get special kitty toenail trimmers too, supposed to cause them less distress.

Hope that she is okay though, I always worry when I hear of internal bleeding like that.

Best wishes to kitty.
