It feels like I've been running around like a crazy woman for all of December. Now, on Christmas Eve, I've...just....stopped.
It feels nice. Damn nice. Though there's some guilt mixed in with the pleasure. I can't quite believe that I've been this lazy all day. The one thing I had planned I failed to do. Dave's been out a couple of times, but I've just been hanging out in the house. Lying down nappishly without napping. Reading a few lines in a book. Listening to music. Wrapping a couple of presents. Checking my email. Everything feels like it's in slow motion.
Last night we went to my cousin's house and had Christmas with my mom, stepdad, cousin, my cousin's daughter, my cousin's husband, and our kids. It was fun. It made me feel like I should get together with my cousin more often.
Tomorrow will arguably be a whirlwind of stops and presents and relatives (though much less so than in years past), so this pause is likely a good idea. And I haven't been a total slug - there's apple cider simmering on the stove and the kitchen floor has been swept and mopped. But I haven't showered and I'm still wearing the t-shirt I woke up in (sorry if that's tmi).
I wouldn't want to do this every day, but after a month of nonstop rushing, this inertia feels like perfection.
