Jan. 29th, 2008 06:16 amI was reading poems this morning, and this one just seemed like a message:
People want you to be happy.
Don't keep serving them your pain!
If you could untie your wings
and free your soul of jealousy,
you and everyone around you
would fly up like doves.
--Rumi
So, umm, yeah. Working on this. *sheepish grin*

Date: 2008-01-29 03:15 pm (UTC)Because of various events in my life, I'm kinda in the mood to read Rumi... maybe this is another sign that I should.

Date: 2008-01-29 11:15 pm (UTC)And life is pretty much the same a lot of the time. :)
(hugs) its good to keep your eye on the goal but you can't just say "I see what a healthy behaviour is I want it" like you're buying it off the shelf at a supermarket. No, its more like that Dear Liza song "there's a hole in the bucket"...and that we need to figure out which step we can get help from outside ourselves to address a given step the most easily.
But it is a beuatiful bit..Rumi was an Arabic poet? I imagine it sounds ever better in the original language... I love the sound of psalms in Hebrew...

Date: 2008-01-30 03:36 am (UTC)I agree - wishing doesn't make it so, but it's good to have an eye on the goal, I guess. I'm tired of only having negative things to say lately, though I do seem to be going through a bit of a rough patch.
