That's Harold Thurman, not Harold Whitman. He was a philosopher, theologian and civil rights leader, an important figure in African American history who was a major inspiration to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. He actually traveled to meet Gandhi in the 1930s and founded the first interracial church in the U.S. in the 1940s. Amazing guy. One to teach your kids about! =)
