I know everyone's seen this by now, and while it's not Discovery Channel, Stride gum isn't exactly free from corporate self-interest.... And for all I know Matt may be a total schmuck.

But the freaking thing still makes me cry every single time I watch it. For the courage it takes to travel, to dance badly, and to ask other people to dance with you. For a world that can be both so large and so small at the same time. For each of us, alone, in the hopes that we can be a little less alone for a little while. For a day that celebrates USian independence, in hopes that it will one day celebrate our interdependence as well.

I buy Stride gum because they sponsored his 2006 world tour and video. It's good gum (I get the fruit flavor) but I would never have tried it if I hadn't heard about them through the video.

I got the video from Mom. I was ready to dismiss it as just another silly Mom thing, but I watched it, and it was really, really good.

She also sent me the "FInal Lecture" video, which was also good. Maybe Mom things aren't so bad.
