(After answering this, it occurs to me that I watched a lot of movies during the 80s. The other decades, not so much.)

(And I really don't think that these are the top movies of the past 25 years. But obviously EW's mileage varies. And maybe the acronym is deserved?)

Yeah, I'm a bit underwhelmed by this list. There's some great stuff on it, don't get me wrong, but there are a lot of films that are a lot higher than I think they'd deserve to be, and it certainly feels like there's a lot of stuff missing. It's a list bred for diversity more than any level of quality, I think. Comparing this with the IMDB top 250 (http://www.imdb.com/chart/top) is an entertaining exercise -- I don't agree with a ton of the stuff on that list, either (Return of the Jedi just outside the top 100? Really??) but it's got a stack of stuff missing from this list...

Interesting set of films you've seen, BTW -- I think we overlap about 50% or so. And one of these days I still need to show you Wings Of Desire... :-)

Maybe they're the top-grossing, inflation-adjusted? It does look like an odd list for a "best-of".

Can't be -- Wings of Desire wouldn't have been in the top 2-300 if they were going by gross, and there would have been a lot more Pixar films (e.g., Finding Nemo, etc.) I'm pretty sure it has to be representing someone's definition of quality...

Hmm... I've seen most of these, which gives me great overlap with you and Shaterri.

It has to be asked, you know: which 15?

Er... 20!

*laugh* Well, I wanted to buy half of the things in the store and wondered if I should just move to Sweden instead. That's the short version. Luckily, I limited myself to a few small things we needed (steak knives, a clock, some cutting boards.) And the food in the cafeteria was yummy, particularly the desserts, which texturally were interesting and seemed different than the typical American fare. And I loved the sparkling apple-lingonberry soda I tried. Have you been yet?

Ohyes. :) Is a way of life!

Went with Jill a couple of times, helped her cart lots of unassembled furniture around, jumped onto a cart and then she pushed me around the warehouse for a while. Wheeee! :-D

I really missed Ikea from when I was in Pennsylvania - there was one right next to the Plymouth Meeting Mall where I'd go every weekend to dress up in costume and help a lady do a puppet show for kids. Fun times. :)
