No doubt many of you have seen this already, but this is just insane:

I don't know what to say.

eta: Denver, too, though I'm not seeing reports on home raids here, just (!) aggression toward protesters for having the audacity to wear bandanas. Though if anyone else has links, please point me to them. Thanks.

This is nothing new. I saw it all when the Republican national convention was in Philly a few years ago. There were Designated Free Speech Zones. These zones were far from the RNC and permits to protest in them were hard to get. Police raided a well known local puppet troop and seized items that were to be used in protests. Protesters were arrested and kept longer than the law allows.

I have no clue if any of this got national attention. I'm not even sure how much the local mainstream media covered it. But the local alternative weeklies were all over it.

Designated Free Speech zones. Still sends shivers down my spine. As long as you stay out of the damn streets, the whole damn country is supposed to be for free speech. What the hell would Franklin, Washington or Jefferson think?

Stuff like this went on in Denver, too. That doesn't make it right, of course - but it's not just the RNC.

I've been following this too, it makes me sick. I watched video of Amy Goodman being arrested, and then an interview as she was released. I hope she can make something substantive come from all of this...
