There's hope for me yet. In the fifth panel, I found myself wondering what sort of adventures would befall a little boy who lived in a thin house, and it was none of the banalities that followed.

Yeah, it wasn't the actual novel that resonated so much as "random person dies with unfinished future 'bestseller' in a drawer." Mine's on the computer, but still. :-)

My first thought on reading your comment: "Clearly the two apartment buildings would squish the thin house between them and he would go on a hunt into the bowels of the Living City, which turns out to be a bit too living for most people's comfort. At some point he would run into two unwashed brownstones warming their cobblestone hands over a landfill fire."
