reconnected

Context is all.

I'm realizing just how difficult it's been being sick for the past three+ weeks, because now that I'm feeling better, I'm feeling so much better.

Things I've done this weekend that I haven't done in a month:

rode bikes with Daniel
visited friends and played Balderdash
cleaned the house
listened to tons of new music :-D
had my parents (dad and stepmom) and brothers over for belated Christmas gift opening
played 'Don't Break the Ice' with Daniel
used some of the incense we got in NC
sang in the shower :-)

I'm sure there are other things that I'm just not thinking of right now.

I can't convey how wonderful it's been just to get outside, to interact with people other than my kids and spouse. I love them, but I need other people in my life too.

And online I have that, even while sick, but it's just not good for me to place too much social import on my online interaction. I do that sometimes, especially when I'm sick/indoors for an extended period, but I also do it just because I get caught up in the cycle of it. Maybe that's something I should work on for the new year.

I don't want to end on a down note. Truly, I feel blessed. I feel like there are good things in my life, and I just want to bask in appreciation for the moment. :-)

I just feel reconnected on so many levels today.

*ooohs* No, I don't think so. Do you have a website for it?

[livejournal.com profile] beetiger makes her own homemade blends, and sells kits for others to do the same. I'm dying to try that too.

www.shoyeido.com ;)

My favorite scents are probably Golden Pavilion (Kin-kaku) and Moss Garden (Nokiba), though Kyoto Autumn Leaves (Kyo-nishiki) is nice to warm the air in the fall. I also like Great Origin and Eternal Treasure, thought not quite as much.

I find their Zen incenses a little more smoky (still not as much as dipped incense sticks), but Sitting Zen really does smell great too if you use it in a big enough space and you're actually meditating (and not just using it to add a nice smell to the room, like I do sometimes ;) ).
