Hi LJ Genie/s--

My mom had McAfee on this laptop, but apparently they just came out with a new version. $35 seems a little steep for it to me. Dave said he's heard that there's free virus protection out now that's good. Anyone have any recommendations? Thanks. xoxo

I'm partial to Avast! (http://www.avast.com/eng/programs.html), myself. The 'Home Free' edition requires that you register - give 'em an email address - and is otherwise gratis.
I used to use AVG, but they did some stupid things regarding processor usage and network access, and I haven't turned from Avast! since.

Another option is AVG Anti-virus. It's worked well for me and doesn't slow down my laptop at all.

oh, nevermind... I see it was mentioned above. I know some people have issues with it but I never have..
