unexpected visitor

I just saw a big black vulture out on the brick wall that serves as a boundary for the subdivision as well as our yard. I called Daniel, but as soon as he came over it flapflapped its great wings and flew away.

I know a lot of people find vultures gross, but I love them.

I think it might be because there's a dead squirrel someplace along the side of a street bordering our house, not far from our yard. But it might just have stopped by to say hello, too.

Ooooh...if the kids let us, we can work on it during the visit? I'm not sure what I can do, but even just doodling or reading over what you have would be fun.

We get lots of turkey vultures around our way, following the path of the Niagara Escarpment... but I didn't realize this until I was in my mid-20s, and saw some on the ground, eating a dog.

We get a lot of turkey vultures too. Like kindredsgirl, I think they are absolutely gorgeous in flight.
