my first birthday gift...
Dec. 3rd, 2009 11:11 pm...so far this year. Thank you, so much,

They say a butterfly will flap its wings (I like to think,
the first few slow-expanding beats upon
emergence from the cocoon) and in the course
of natural events, on the other side of Earth
the wind might rise, or rain might fall;
that subatomic particles can be by fate aligned,
entangled so that, though miles intervene,
(miles in quantum physics surely more
significant than thousands between you and I),
a change in one has instantaneous effect;
so it is with those we make our own – even from afar,
even never met, even without conscious thought or choice
our lives entwine; hearts too can beat until winds blow,
and miles away the effect they have is undeniable.
