Card: 4 of Pentacles

Deck: Fifth Spirit

The first thing I notice is that the tree has been cut down.

Describing the Image: A crown, a coin, a pocket watch, and a locket, are tangled underground in the roots of a tree. The tree, however, is actually just a stump. There is, however, a sprig sprouting from it.

Colors, Shapes, Symbols and Meaning, Background:
Colors - mostly brown, some green, gray, tarnished gold
Shapes - half-circle, circles, rectangle
Symbols and meaning - tarnished crown, power and rule that's disappeared; pocketwatch, the passage of time; coin - money; locket - you keep pictures in it
Background - n/a

This card makes me feel disconcerted about the stump.

It reminds me of the poem Ozymandias.

The energy of this card is contradictory - the roots are holding onto outdated treasures, but the tree itself is missing.

I could use this card's energy today by letting go of things that don't serve me, not holding onto things I don't need.

KEYWORDS: protectiveness, hoarding, controlling

"Don't cut yourself off for fear of risk. A seed locked in a vault doesn't grow."
